Yemen Tourism - Baraqish

Baraqish is a remarkable ancient city in Yemen. It is situated in the semi-arid region, midway to Hazm Al-Jawf and Sanaa. Over the past couple of years its popularity as a tourist destination has gone up on account of its location amidst spectacular natural landscapes.

Baraqish lies on the top of a high mountain with a wonderful castle varnished by a tall bastioned wall. Even now, the wall has retained its good condition and in some areas it is around 8 meters high. The wall comprises 57 towers and gates, one of which is in the east, whereas the other one lies to the west of the fortified wall.

The left over part of the old temple is considered to be one of the most significant features of this Yemenis city. It lies in the southern part of the city and represents the unique architectural design followed by the Ma’eenis. The structure comprises around 16 columns and beams.

Some of the archaeologists think it to be the Athter Temple, the goddess of love or that of Venus, the morning star. Apart from this, there is also another temple located in the city center. However, only 4 columns of this temple still stand today. Several inscriptions are engraved on this city wall.

Vacation Holiday Trips also showcase a unique blend of travel and leisure photos and stories, updates, events and announcements about roads, shopping malls, hotels, bed and breakfast, restaurants, groceries and more. Not just a travel guide but one-of-a-kind discovery of people and places.
